As You Like It

Synopsis
The play is placed in the context of comedy as an art form. Its structure is analysed as a progression from strife to communal happiness and from a set of opposites to reconcilation and harmony. Key opposites include court and country, public role and private identity, ‘real life’ and the stage. The ending of the play is viewed as a sacrament. Side 2 comprises readings by actors Knight Mantell, Viv Garner and Eirwen Hopkins.
