Macbeth on Film

Synopsis
A video-based package for the study of Macbeth through film. The video compilation features 34 extracts from the following film versions of Macbeth: 1) RSC 1978, directed by Trevor Nunn, with Ian McKellen and and Judi Dench; 2) 1998, directed by Michael Bogdanov, with Sean Pertwee and Greta Scacchi, made for Channel 4 Learning; 1948 version with Orson Welles. The teaching pack is supplied as a pdf on CD-ROM. It includes guidelines for using the video compilation, and discusses representations of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth and the witches, comparisons of how key scenes are interpreted, and the use of film techniques to convey meaning.
