Notes: The production opened at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, press night 3 August 1994. There were some changes to the cast in the transfer to the Barbican where this recording was made. The production went to the United States and was recorded by TOFT at a performance given at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, New York City May 25 1996. The RSC also recorded, on a single camera, a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 16 September 1994 and at the Barbican 29 April 1995. These recordings are catalogued separately.

Awards: Anthony Ward won an Olivier Award for Best Costume Designer for this production.
