Bad Case of Shakespeare, A

Synopsis
Television series hosted by Nanette Fabray and dedicated to the belief that ‘experimentation in television is vital to the future’. The programme, filmed near Stratford-upon-Avon, is in three parts. In Part 1 John Gielgud, Diana Rigg, Christopher Plummer and David Warner discuss Shakespeare’s life and work. Gielgud admits that he neither likes nor understands some of the lesser plays. Part 2 is a short drama, written by Anthony Rouse, about Shakespeare Smith, a 20th-century Englishman (Castle) who, convinced that he is really William Shakespeare, seeks help from a psychoanalyst (Flood). In Part 3 students from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts rehearse scenes from Shakespeare’s plays.
