Theatre of Roger Planchon, The
- Synopsis
- An account of the life and achievement of one of France’s foremost contemporary directors. Shows the establishing of his company in Villeurbanne in 1950, the particular quality of the repertory he has pursued there in relation to the changing aesthetic and political allegiances that have shaped his experiments with theatre, and his work as actor, director and playwright. Several of his celebrated productions are studied in detail, including his 1980 version of Racine’s Athalie. Also shows material from a cycle of Shakespeare’s histories and from Troilus and Cressida.
