Drama critic Walter Kerr comments on excerpts from five plays performed by professional actors. He discusses characteristics unique to the live dramatic form by comparing these scenes with segments of film. Includes scenes from Prometheus, Richard III, The Importance of Being Earnest, No Place to Be Somebody by Charles Gordons and The Serpent by Jean-Claude van Itallie. Also includes the mime sequence showing the slaying of Abel by Cain from The Serpent, performed by the Open Theatre.*
