Duel Scene from ‘Macbeth’
- Synopsis
- This scene comprises part of the video compilation ‘Theatrical Motions Pictures from the Paper Print Collection’ of the Library Congress. Shot by cameraman G W Bitzer in New York City on 15 July 1905, and comprising 21 feet of film, it was photographed as if from the audience at a theatre. The scene begins at the end of a duel between a man wearing armour and another in a kilt who falls in front of the camera as if dead. The man in the kilt carrying a sword enters and begins duelling with the winner of the first encounter. He wins and the film ends here. All the action occurs in front of a painted backdrop.
