Hamlet

Synopsis
Television version of a thrust stage production, using an undergraduate company of fourteen and shot in the 14th-century cellars of Mottisfont Abbey, Romsey. The production emphasises the centrality to Hamlet of concepts of performance by establishing close actor-audience relations, doubling roles to illuminate the play’s structure and integrating 17th-century with 20th-century theatre and television conventions.
