Sonnets in the City

Synopsis
Five daily readings of Shakespearean sonnets, performed around London Landmarks, as a prelude to a live transmission of HENRY V, Act IV from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on 15 June 1997 at 8pm.

09/06 Robert Gore Langton reads from outside the Palace of Westminster.
10/06 James E. Gardner, James Gilbin, Christi Fran Mckeown with a version of a sonnet in which a young man realises the wretchedness of drug addiction.
11/06 To the sound of the City waking up, Gabrielle Reidy, a pregnant woman, recites Sonnet 143 to her lover who has deserted her ‘Lo, as a care-full housewife runs to catch’
12/06 On Hungerford Bridge, John Abbot recites Sonnet 29 ‘When, in disgrace, with fortune and men’s eyes’. to his dog.
13/06 Nabil Shaban reads a sonnet in Temple Church.
