- History
- The film was made for German television and originally broadcast by the ARD on 1/1/1961. It was shown theatrically in the United States, having being bought by Hollywood producer Edward Dmytryk. The film was dubbed into English (allegedly against Schell’s wishes who wanted subtitles) , the dubbing directed by Dmytryk. It was presented at the San Francisco Film Festival in 1962.
