- Synopsis
- Independent short. Stephen Linton is a classically trained stage actor who has made the transition to Hollywood stardom. His fame has made him plenty of money but his poor choice of roles has brought him poor reviews. At the same time his wife Helena and his best friend are achieving critical success on the London stage. When Stephen is offered the part of Hamlet in a major production he believes that he is no longer capable of such a role. Then one day he receives a letter from a fan that includes an essay by T.S. Eliot entitled ‘Hamlet and his Problems’.

- `Hamlet and His Problems’ is an essay by T. S. Eliot published in 1922 in his book The Sacred Wood: Essays on Poetry and Criticism. It is a short essay, of around 2,000 words, but proved influential for its introduction to literary criticism of the concept of the objective correlative. It is also noted for its description of Hamlet as ‘an artistic failure’. [Wikipedia entry].
