Synopsis
Comic opera. Ambroise Thomas’ comic three-act fantasy in which Queen Elizabeth intervenes in a young Shakespeare’s life to save him from debauchery with his friend Falstaff, and to turn him toward his true vocation of poet. Recorded in performance during the Festival de Compiegne, for the inauguration of the Eurotunnel. The choir of the Theatre Francaise de la Musique and the Polish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, Cracow are conducted by Michel Swierczewski. Costumes designed and provided by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
