Notes
- General
- This was Richard Jones’ first production for the RSC; he had previously worked mainly in opera.
‘Richard Jones’s spiky, anti-tinsel, non-cajoling production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s often perverse, over-designed and underacted. But it taps into something important. In giving us the Bard as Goth, and putting the ‘witch’ back into bewitching, it reminds us how dark and disturbing this play - Shakespeare’s most beguiling - can be.' Susannah Clapp The Observer 24 February 2002.
