Clissold Saga, Part 2: The Aviator

Synopsis
Classic radio comedy series. In this episode, in a running sketch entitled ‘The Backroom Boys of the BBC’ Bill Pertwee, as a military commander, rallies the backroom boys (the laughmakers) who infiltrate audiences and provide laughter for BBC shows. The troops, exhausted by active service on the JIMMY CLITHEROE SHOW are unwilling - especially the ‘hell out there’ which is ROUND THE HORNE. To a few bars of The DAMBUSTERS Pertwee recites a few garbled lines from Henry V - III, i ‘Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more’ with a bit of Rupert Brooke thrown in as the troops go off to preserve the British values encapsulated in the BILLY COTTON BAND SHOW and TWENTY QUESTIONS.
