Synopsis
A one-off special variety sketch show. The show was taped in London in (ATV’s studios) and satirises the English. Sketches include Carol and Fred as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; Anne Boleyn writing an advice to the lovelorn column; Shakespeare receiving literary criticism from Francis Bacon; and the cast in a spoof of The Forsyte Saga. John Gielgud reads from Oliver Twist, and joins Carol for a tea for two soft-shoe and a rousing ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’; Carol, Art and Fred sing a World War I tongue twister; and Ralph Richardson recites ‘Camptown Races’.
