King Lear: Who is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am?
- Synopsis
- Educational series. One in a twelve-part series of films made by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (now TV Ontario). The aim was to relate ‘Shakespeare’s timeless ideas and understanding of human motivations to contemporary society’. The press information from NBC Educational Enterprises records that the film ‘examines the absurd world of folly, madness, despair and human destruction’. The Fool comments on the folly of Lear’s actions standing in front of a poster which uses a line from Waiting for Godot ‘we are all mad, some remain so’. It concludes with comment on Lear’s regeneration in self-knowledge.
