Othello: An Anatomy of a Marriage

Synopsis
Educational series. One in a twelve-part series of films made by the Ontario Educational Communications Authority (now TV Ontario). The aim was to relate ‘Shakespeare’s timeless ideas and understanding of human motivations to contemporary society’. The press information from NBC Educational Enterprises records that the film studies Othello as ‘a character of mighty opposites; he is extravagant in his love as he is in his hatred. Like the man, his marriage pivots between two extremes’. The film concentrates on the scenes in which Othello’s torment begins and ends.
