Shakespeare Social Networks: Animated Shakespeare
- Synopsis
- A site which employs PieSpy, software designed to allow users to infer and visualise social networks on Internet Relay Chat (IRC). It works by feeding PieSpy with the full texts of all Shakespeare plays, applying simple heuristics, and producing animated drawings of the social networks present, visualising who is talking to whom and how strong the connections are. Full animations for the 37 plays have been created and there are selected still frames from Henry V, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and All’s Well That Ends Well with an example of animation from Antony and Cleopatra available on jibble.org. The site began in 2001 and is still developing. The programmer and copyright owner is Paul Mutton.
