Notes
- History
- The transmission of this educational series was accompanied by a re-run of the SHAKESPEARE AND HIS WORLD series in December. Whereas the latter series of talks were mainly addressed to students, this series aimed to introduce Shakespeare to the ordinary listener in order "to help him to penetrate the difficulty of Shakespeare’s language and convention and to enjoy his living thought" ('Both Sides of the Microphone’ in The Radio Times, 11 November 1949, p. 11).
