- Synopsis
- One of a series of seven films produced by the National Geographic Society in association with the television station WQED, Pittsburgh. Describes the reign of Elizabeth I at the end of the 16th century when political and economic instability created the impetus for Shakespeare’s play. Includes two of Hamlet’s soliloquies (`what a piece of work is man’ and ‘to be or not to be’) and Falstaff’s ‘honour’ speech from Henry IV. A companion film to HAMLET.
