Seven Lears: The Pursuit of the Good

Synopsis
A video recording of Howard Barker’s play which explores the untold story of King Lear and his journey through the ‘seven ages of man’. The play explores Lear’s backstory, asking what he was like as a princeling, how he become king, how good a king he was, where was Queen Lear, and why did his own daughter hate him. Through these deliberations the play investigates the universal themes of collective and individual good. Performed by staff and students of the Department of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies, University of California, Berkeley.
