- Eight of a series of talks on English painting, 1700-1840. John Woodward, Assistant Keeper of the Department of Fine Art, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, gives a talk about Shakespeare illustrations. With particular reference to Boydell’s Shakespeare Gallery, he discusses how the painters contribution to the Romantic reassessment of Shakespeare. In the second part of the programme, readings by Charles E. Stidwill and Lockwood West accompany the talk.
