- Synopsis
- Arts and media programme presented by Sarah Dunant. Includes an item (16 mins) on Russian theatre director Yuri Lyubimov rehearsing Hamlet with English actors at the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester. Lyubimov is shown directing via a translator and assistant director Michael Wasserman admits that he has to tone down Lyubimov’s directions for English consumption. The actors comment on the experience and change from British theatre practices: Daniel Webb (Hamlet), Veronica Smart (Ophelia), Richard Durden (Polonius) and Andrew Jarvis (Claudius) are seen in rehearsal. Also mentions the use of a curtain as the main piece of staging.
