Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo
- Synopsis
- Documentary on the lives and deaths of Bosko Brkic and Admira Ismic, a young Serbian man and Muslim woman who died in each others arms on May 19 1993 after being shot by snipers during the Serbo-Croat civil war. They were fleeing from former Yugoslavia to get married. Interviews with the couple’s friends, and news footage from the war, recount their story. Photographs of their dead bodies on the Vrbanja bridge were used by the international media, and a now legendary Reuters dispatch about them was filed by Kurt Schork. They became a symbol for the suffering of the people on all sides of the conflict.
