Synopsis
Feature film. A psychological thriller set in New York. After a car accident on the Brooklyn Bridge, Henry Letham (Gosling)walks away from the burning car. He announces to his psychiatrist Sam (McGregor) that he will commit suicide in three days. There are numerous connections to Hamlet in the film (see Lanier op cit) - Letham is an anagram of ‘Hamlet’, An actress, Athena (Reaser) rehearsing the role of Ophelia reads with a black actor playing Rosencrantz ‘Denmark’s a prison’ to ‘were it not that I have bad dreams’ (ii ii) and Henry is terrified by his father’s ghost.
