Life Begins at Eight-Thirty
- Synopsis
- Feature film. Kathy (Lupino) lives in a cramped New York flat with her father Madden Thomas (Woolley), a celebrated and cynical actor brought down by drink. Lame from an early age, and feeling trapped with her father in her restricted world, Kathy meets fellow tenant Robert. Robert helps secure a role for Madden in a new production of King Lear. There are several scenes of the rehearsal for the play, and the father’s tyrannical hold on, and love for, his daughter could be seen as a plot parallel with Shakespeare’s play.
