Scenes from Macbeth
- Synopsis
- Feature film short. A parodic version of Macbeth set in the world of contemporary Toronto’s business elite. Macbeth’s rise is spurred by the prophecy of three bag ladies; his fall is planned over a power lunch. Lanier (op cit) notes ‘Several transpositions of Shakespeare’s play are especially witty: the witches are barmy homeless women, and street urchins chant their spells as a rap number and a pickup truck filled with Christmas trees serves for Birnham Wood coming to Dunsinane (Macbeth is gunned down from the truck in a drive-by shooting)'.
