- Synopsis
- A mixed radio programme comprised of music and 10-minute excerpts from Shakespeare’s plays. The musical pieces are played by the Glasgow Station Orchestra (with Herbert A. Carruthers as conductor). Effie Cotton (soprano) sings Shakespearean songs. Bertha Waddell and Robert Donat perform scenes from various plays. The broadcast opens with the H.R. Bishop’s Overture to As You Like It and is followed by a performance of Act III, scene ii from the play. Shakespeare songs are grouped around a performance of The Tempest (III i) and Twelfth Night (II iv) and the programme closes with incidental music for Henry VIII by Sullivan.
