I Will Avenge You, Iago!

Synopsis
Independent feature film farce. Jack Bandrowsky (Pine) has just finished a performance as Iago in Verdi’s Otello. Marvin (Nobbs) is a naive audience member who fails to understand that the characters are not real and he goes backstage to stab Iago. Jack, improvising, tells Marvin that it is the Duke who is the real villain of the piece. Marvin now vows to avenge Iago’s death by killing the Duke. He succeeds in his mission and spends two years in prison where he plays the title role in a prison production of Hamlet. Another plot strand concerns Jack’s wife, Helen (Barall) a successful actress who has spent the last few months portraying Ophelia in a national touring company’s version of Hamlet. The film plays with notions of stage and real life and where the two meet. There are passages from Otello and Hamlet.
