Synopsis
US variety show hosted by Ed Sullivan. This episode includes scenes (c 16mins) from a production of The Tempest filmed at the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre in Stratford, CT. There are also scenes (c 13 mins) from Julius Caesar; Christopher Plummer performs the "Friends, Romans, countrymen" speech and Raymond Massey (as Prospero) delivers the "our revels now are ended" speech.

Episode 48 in season 8. The show was re-titled The Ed Sullivan Show on 25/09/1955 at the beginning of the 9th season. The Tempest and Julius Caesar were in repertory of the American Festival Theatre July 12-September 3 1955.
