Synopsis
Film drama based on the play by Emile Moreau that relates the love story of Queen Elizabeth and the Earl of Essex. The film opens with a performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor (the Falstaff basket scene III,iii) staged to celebrate the victory over the Armada. After the performance the Queen congratulates William Shakespeare (actor unknown).
