- Synopsis
- Newsfilm item. A royal visit to Stratford-upon-Avon. King Edward VII, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret visit Stratford-on-Avon for the first time. The royal party is greeted by Lord Iliffe and shown into the foyer of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre. Their majesties watch a rehearsal (very brief cut-ins) and are later introduced to Anthony Quayle, Gwen Frangcon-Davies and John Gielgud. Quayle and Frangcon-Davies are presented wearing their costumes from the current production of Henry VIII directed by Tyrone Guthrie. Commentator Leslie Mitchell.
