Ein Kessel Buntes [01/09/1990]
- Synopsis
- Variety show. 13-minute parody sketch presented by black German singer Roberto Blanco and Helga Hahnemann as part of their popular GDR television variety show. The sketch depicts Desdemona sitting on her bed holding a telephone conversation with her mother while a frenzied Othello tries to get her attention. Blanko speaks in Shakespearean verse and is armed with Desdemona’s kitchen knife. Refusing to put down the ‘phone and to take Othello’s threats serious, Desdemona is eventually silenced by suffocation and stabbing. The programme continues with a song in which Blanco/Othello and Hahnemann/Desdemona make up and sing "We are not Romeo and Juliet".
