Synopsis: Short documentary film about Werner Schroeter’s theatre production of King Lear at the Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus in Germany in 1990. The production was noted mostly for its display of nudity and sexual violence. Kern’s documentary features excerpts from the rehearsals as well as interviews with the director,actors such as Zazie de Paris, who worked with Schroeter before, and those who play leading roles in the play. Their remarks are interspersed with comments from audience members.
