- A live transmission from the 2007 Proms, presented by Geoffrey Smith. Jazz musicians John Dankworth and Cleo Laine celebrate their 80th birthdays with a combination of Shakespeare and jazz. Dankworth performs Duke Ellington’s Shakespearean suite Such Sweet Thunder and fashions his own blues settings out of the rhythm and moods of Shakespeare’s works in a sequence entitled ‘Shakespeare and all that Jazz’. John Dankworth directs the John Dankworth Quintet, BBC Big Band, and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
