Notes

General
`This production is cast with five males only. It entails ingenious quick changes - going off as one character coming back as another ... The piece was presented in modern costume, with an emphasis on the Twenties. The drag - frocks but with the men’s own hairstyles - steered clear of both camp and the pantomime dame". {Martin Hoyle, Times 27.4.93}
History
Produced by the Bremer Shakespeare Company at the Theatre aus Bremen in 1991. The production played at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre (still a building site) opening 23 April 1993.

Reviews
"This production is cast with five males only. It entails ingenious quick changes - going off as one character coming back as another...The piece was presented in modern costume, with an emphasis on the Twenties. The drag - frocks but with the mens own hairstyles - steered clear of both camp and the pantomime dame, though the sagging bosom and throaty Renato Grunig’s Mistress Quickly was fairly broad and Christian Dieterle’s glamourous Alice Ford in gold evening dress and purple scarf looked like something out of Cabaret." Martin Hoyle, The Times, 27 April 1993.
