Radio broadcast. Fourth in a series of 26 weekly programmes "designed as an anthology of the best-known and best-loved speeches and scenes" from Shakespeare’s better known plays. This episode showcases ‘the best of’ Much Ado About Nothing, presenting the banter between Benedick and Beatrice, played by John Neville and Gwen Cherrill.

Both actors were part of the Nottingham Playhouse Company, the first Shakespearean company to tour West Africa in 1963 (sponsored by the British Council).

According to the programme notes in London Calling, more than half of the programmes were produced specially for the General Overseas Service, while the rest is taken from ‘classic’ BBC productions of the previous 20 years.
