- Synopsis
- Radio broadcast relayed from Stratford-upon-Avon as part of the Shakespeare quatercentenary celebrations. While the first part of the ‘Tuesday Invitation Concert’ introduces ‘Music in London, 1588-1605’, the second part is devoted to the music composed by Shakespeare’s contemporary, English organist and composer William Byrd. The music is performed by the Elizabethan Madrigal Ensemble, the Elizabethan consort and Choir of Magdalen College (conducted by Bernard Rose).
