Abbreviated version of Shakespeare’s late play produced and arranged in seven scenes and a prologue by Val Gielgud and E. A. Harding. The cast includes John Gielgud as Prospero and Angela Baddeley as Miranda. Music by Kate Coates and Leslie Woodgate is played by the BBC Orchestra, conducted by Leslie Woodgate.

British sculptor Eric Gill was so impressed with Leslie French’s performance in the same part at the Old Vic that he requested him as model for the figure of Ariel that he sculpted on the panel of the BBC Broadcasting House ('The B.B.C.'s "Ariel"', Radio Times, 20 February 1931, p. 412).
