- Radio broadcast. The Western Studio Orchestra lead by Frank Thomas plays incidental music to Shakespeare’s plays. Nicolai’s Overture for The Merry Wives of Windsor is followed by Mendelssohn’s Scherzo for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a selection of Foulds’s Suite for King Henry VIII, Orlando Gibbons contemporary piece ‘The Lord Salisbury and his Pavin’, Rosse’s music for The Merchant of Venice and Coleridge-Taylor’s music for Othello.
