Synopsis
Radio broadcast. The Western Studio Orchestra lead by Frank Thomas plays incidental music to Shakespeare’s plays. Nicolai’s Overture for The Merry Wives of Windsor is followed by Mendelssohn’s Scherzo for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a selection of Foulds’s Suite for King Henry VIII, Orlando Gibbons contemporary piece ‘The Lord Salisbury and his Pavin’, Rosse’s music for The Merchant of Venice and Coleridge-Taylor’s music for Othello.
