Synopsis
Radio broadcast. Third of six talks by literary critic William Empson in which he discusses some of the problems of character and action raised by Shakespearean characters, such as Macbeth, Hamlet and Falstaff. In this episode Empson considers the impact the first performance of Hamlet is likely to have had on its audience.
