- Synopsis
- Feature film based on Romeo and Juliet. Zhu Xiaoli is saved from drowning by Dawei, a member of the Luo clan against whom the Zhu clan bear grudges. Xiaoli’s brother Biao challenges Luo to a duel and plunges to his death down a cliff. Luo flees and hides inside a temple. Taking an old monk’s advice, he waits for the opportune time to elope with Xiaoli. Back home Xiaoli is being forced to enter an arranged marriage. The monk dissuades her from killing herself by giving her a potion which will first bring her to a deep coma then ‘resurrect’ her. Daunted by Xiaoli’s ‘death’ her father vows to poison Luo...
