Primary Shakespeare

Synopsis
Educational television. Resource Review helps teachers to find the best resources for teaching a particular subject. This episode highlights three resources designed to aid the teaching of Shakespeare to primary pupils. Dr Vivienne Griffiths, head of the School of Education at the University of Sussex, recommends:

1. An Introduction to Shakespeare and his world - a tour of the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, including the Lively Action Workshop.

2. The Language of Shakespeare by Rex Gibson, a book to help pupils better understand Shakespeare.

3. Sheffield Theatres’ Macbeth Teaching Resources - a website of Macbeth-orientated resources

Matthew Tosh takes a more detailed look at a couple of the recommendations, while Vivienne joins presenter Hermione Cockburn in the studio, along with panellists Glynis Wiles, Year 6 AST from Oxley Park Primary School in Milton Keynes, and Colin Hynson, freelance education consultant and writer.
