- Synopsis
- Hindi feature film. The story of Violet Stoneham, an ageing Anglo-Indian schoolteacher who lives in a dingy apartment in Calcutta and teaches Shakespeare. Two young lovers walk into her life one Christmas morning and break up her rigid routine. This new found friendship becomes paramount in Violet’s life but when she discovers that her apartment is more valuable to them than her friendship she again finds solace in Shakespeare. The film ends with her reciting aloud from King Lear on a deserted winter night with a stray dog as her only audience.
