Love They Neighbor
- Alternative title
- Love Thy Neighbour
- Synopsis
- Radio programme. A celebration of LOVE THY NEIGHBOR (1940) which includes some of the film’s stars - Jack Benny, Eddie ‘Rochester’ Anderson and Fred Allen. Announcer Ken Carpenter and Benny ask Rochester why he is dressed strangely. He answers that he is Romeo taking ‘his favourite Juliet to a masquerade tonight’. The costume plays off the lyric of the song Rochester and his date (Theresa Harris) sing ‘Dearest, Darest’ (written by Johnny Burke and Jimmy van Heusen) which states that ‘Shakespeare was a jive man’ and refers to their home in ‘Stratford-on-the-Harlem’. [With acknowledgment to Michael P. Jensen for providing the description].
