Lean and Slippered Pantaloon, The: A World Too Wide
- Synopsis
- Radio series in which contemporary writers reflect on the theme of Jaques’s ‘Seven Ages of Man’ speech in the form of dramatic monologues. In the sixth episode, John Banville meditates on ‘The Lean and Slippered Pantaloon’. Niall Tobín stars as the ageing Shakespeare actor, who plays Touchstone in As You Like It. He is infatuated with the younger leading actress, something that leads to ridicule. The programme is introduced by the author.
