- Synopsis
- Features a panel discussion on Gordon Getty’s opera Plump Jack, interspersed with performances of musical selections from the work which is set to passages from Shakespeare’s Henry IV plays. Panellists, who include Getty and Paul Sperry who originated the role of Hal, discuss the primacy of text in opera, its evolution from a concert piece, and the suitability of recitative for settings of Shakespeare. Moderated by Charles Kaufman with piano accompaniment by Charles Worth.
