- Television arts series presented by Melvyn Bragg. Ian McKellen talks to Melvyn Bragg about his life and career. This is McKellen’s fourth visit to the South Bank Show and this programme includes extracts from the episodes in 1981, 1985 and 2004. In this latest interview, filmed at his home in Limehouse, McKellen speaks of his debt to George Rylands, addressing Shakespeare’s text, and his admiration of Olivier.
