Synopsis
BBC Radio 3 arts series. Presenter Matthew Sweet talks to Shakespeare scholars James Shapiro and Stanley Wells, asking to what extent Shakespeare’s plays can be taken as autobiographical confession, historical record, political analysis or religious commentary. He also talks to them about their passion for Shakespeare’s work and the focus of contemporary Shakespeare scholarship.
