Synopsis
Recording of an online illustrated lecture by Julia Reinhard Lupton (University of California, Irvine) on Shakespeare and Hebrew wisdom literature, delivered as part of the SEDERI Conference in Barcelona. She focuses on the Hebrew bible and Shakespeare’s Cymbeline and Antony and Cleopatra. Lupton looks in particular at Cleopatra on the Cydnus, where she first meets Mark Antony, depicted on a tapestry in Cymbeline. This is illustrated with a clip from the recording of the 2018 National Theatre production of Antony and Cleopatra.
